About the Project

“All the Moons in all the Waters”, synthesizes several years of artistic contemplation into a single animated short film. The work began as a collection of drawings and songs created over several years by Bryan Dodson and me during our ongoing creative practice. This work is a metaphor for our spiritual journey of daily life.

“One Nature, perfect and pervading, circulates in all natures,
One Reality, all-comprehensive, contains within itself all realities.
The one Moon reflects itself wherever there is a sheet of water,
And all the moons in the waters are embraced within the one Moon.”

My role

I animated the drawings using a range of digital techniques, including custom-trained artificial intelligence models based on my own drawings and paintings. These models served as both stylistic references and starting points for the animations and were developed using tools such as Stable Diffusion, Runway, and ComfyUI. I approached each stage of the process with a contemplative, experimental mindset, allowing the work to evolve over time. Over six months, countless generations and iterations led to an organic, fluid evolution of the animation.
